Destiny’s Child – “Independent Women Part 1” (review)

It’s preposterous that the first single from the soundtrack to Charlie’s Angels — a franchise about three babes managed by an ol’ codger — is an anthem for female autonomy. What’s worse: ”Independent Women Part 1” sounds as recycled as a Nick at Nite rerun, with the recently downsized Destiny’s Child wildly wailing over a beat recalling Santana’s ”Maria Maria.” A misguided mess.
